It is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you that our former DCS colleague, Nancy Nix, was recently diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer. Short of a miracle, her remaining time with us appears to be limited.
I’m sure that, like me, you remember her as a capable, giving, yet determined “can-do” person, traits she no doubt inherited from Bill, her Air Force “Bird Colonel” father and Sarah, her 5-star domestic field marshal mother! Following her TWA career, Nancy devoted her time and talent working for an eldercare law firm in her hometown of Windermere, FL, and after her retirement opened the lower level of her home as a bed and breakfast where she was, as always, a most gracious hostess to many visitors.
On a personal note, Nancy was married to my brother in law, Alan Anderson, in the 70’s. Despite their divorce, Nancy always remained “family.” We love her dearly and we’ve remained close throughoutthe years. Nancy was also responsible for introducing me to the opportunity for a TWA career; one of the many things for which I will forever be in her debt.
As you might imagine, the outpouring of concern and sentiment for Nancy has been overwhelming. In these delicate and final hours, her family is in need of quiet time to love and comfort her and say goodbye. But they have arranged through an online service called “CaringBridge” the ability for family and friends to send sentiments and even little anecdotes which they read to her.
