Richard Lee ‘Rick’ Rowe; son of Troy (Beverly) Rowe and Margarite ‘Polly’ (George) Cook, and brother of Linda (Mike) Lohner peacefully died after a brief illness in the early hours of Friday, December 28, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Tulsa OK, Rick was an excellent athlete as a younger man. A graduate of Tulsa Central High School, Rick attended college in Oklahoma before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy.
A devoted husband to Gayle (nee West) for over 42 years, Rick was blessed with three wonderful children; Jason Rowe of Dallas TX, Andy (Emily) Rowe of St. Louis MO, and Emily (Neal) Scott of Liberty MO. Being a grandfather was Rick’s newest and possibly greatest talent. Carson, Macy, and Owen Scott as well as Caroline and Abigail Rowe will dearly miss their Papa.
Rick had two sides to him, the loving and caring husband and father as well as the consummate businessman. In 1968, Rick started a 30-year career at Trans World Airlines. The airline gave him the opportunity to travel the world, meet and marry the love of his life, and develop lifelong friendships. After TWA, Rick opened his own company and completely embraced the second chapter in his work life, even bringing in and eventually turning over the company to his son.
Rick along with his wife Gayle, was an avid traveler, with many trips centered around playing golf. A member of Bogey Hills Country Club for over 30 years, Rick spent weekends with friends, and teaching the game he loved to his children and grandchildren. In addition, Rick served on the boards of charity and civic groups and was passionate about helping children in need.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral Center – Mid Rivers. A memorial service will also be held at Hutchens-Stygar on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:00 am followed by a celebration of life luncheon at Whitmoor Country Club. Rick was never a huge fan of stuffy funerals, so please come join us to celebrate his life, dress comfortably and leave the suits and ties at home. Private family funeral services will be held at a later time.
